Uh... I'm feeling pretty dumb at the moment. Dad didn't give a damn about my PC, so all that happened was copying my stuff on a temporary 750GB HDD and waste my precious time.
Good News
I'm now going out with a girl who would like to help out with artwork for the game which makes me more than happy. She also has a tablet which makes her do concept art easier. Seems like the three of us (with Marius Chamberlin a.k.a. varrin7) are working together on something big.
Current Requirements
To help Marius picture the levels for the music, I need to sketch up a rough presentation movie with some game elements.
I also want a small tablet for myself, but I don't want my parents to be involved in it, and I need to salvage funds for this cursed market-festivity titled Christmas...
Whatever. Stay tuned. :)

My dad's pimping up my PC with new hardware I bought and he tends to screw around a lot to make everything seamless. And starting a 3 hour HDD scanning for errors is more than a complete waste of my precious time. :(
Now I'm using what little time I have to warn those who actually care about this annoying hangup. It may take some days before things get back to normal.
Good news is that a friend offered to sketch up some concept art for the game. ;)

Trials of the Galaxy
by Marius Chamberlin
I'm most pleased that he has become the winner of this competition that regretfully attracted so little attention - two entries, and only one submitted at the right place.
I look forward to collaborating with you, Marius!

I was scavenging some moody tracks recently to get me hyped into my game project Vengeance Void, but all I've done is wasting time for tunes that won't really fit into such a space shooter game epic.
I was originally thinking that I would get a lot of different tracks from many different artists, but someone suggested me to stick to one person to keep the game less random. However, due to the fact that this game will have a whole universe with a lot of different scenarios, I can't stick to a single artist and moved the whole thing here.
-------
NEW RULES
I have decided to organize a small band of NG audio artists who would compose a collaborative theme album together for the game. The few chosen composers will be working on different genres of music, each of them representing a set of themes in the game, creating the perfect atmosphere.
[ 00 ANYTHING YOU'VE GOT ]
You may present any existing work you have here on NG or create a new piece from scratch. However, I accept only one submission.
[ 01 Free Concept ]
Imagine a random sci-fi scene, and I mean really anything, for example:
Hive of Aliens
Conscious Structure
Amazing Starscape
Asteroid Field
Desparate Battle
Tragedy in Mesosphere
Gargantuan Wrecks
Take No Prisoners
Heroic Death
Majestic Mothership
Also note that there will be cutscenes and menus that need the music to somewhat adapt to the current in-game atmosphere. (like bringing up the menu in the middle of a siege or in the hangar between missions)
[ 02 Nomen Est Omen ]
Choose the song title carefully, since it will be presented when it's credited during gameplay.
"Ganja Mambo LOL" probably won't meet my expectations, while "Rendezvous By Midnight" may have a deeper meaning to it. If the title is very abstract, I suggest you to add what you mean to the author comments.
[ 03 Not Welcome ]
8-bit, gametune, remix, cover and things like that. There are some other genres that probably don't fit such a grim and epic game: reggae, pop, hard techno, disco, jazz, swing, blues, death metal, house, rap, etc.
[ 04 Entry Requirements ]
Deadline: 20-09-2009
Registration: Comment on this news post with a link to your entry submission.
Format: Newgrounds Audio Submission
Duration: 2~30 minutes
Size: 0~5 MB
Bitrate: 32~128 kbps

F.A.Q.
[ Q ]: Is there any other way I can get credited?
[ A ]: There are two other ways, and currently only one is available: referring. Show me someone talented, and I'll give special thanks to you in the general credits if that person becomes a featured artist. You may refer as a reply to this news post only, posting a link to the artist's homepage.
[ Q ]: Okay, what if more people refer the same person that wins?
[ A ]: Finders keepers. :P
[ Q ]: Why all the file restrictions?
[ A ]: Music will be preloaded from your NG audio page. A mere 3 MB 128 k MP3 sound that lasts for about 3 minutes downloads for 24 seconds using 1 Mbit internet connection. A typical gamer hyped up to action will be really pissed to wait almost 30 seconds for some 3 minute background tune unless it's worth it.
[ Q ]: Why don't you put them directly in your game?
[ A ]: As mentioned before, filesize does matter. If my game loads all kinds of crap, it's not worth waiting. Also, Newgrounds has a 10 MB size restriction for flash submissions, and this game will make good use of every bit of code written in it.
[ Q ]: When will you submit the game?
[ A ]: When it's done. Not before christmas, that's for sure. I will release a teaser when something's beginning to form, and a demo when the game engine basics are working.

PRIZES
This is a non-profit garage project, so don't expect income, the profit would be fame. :)
EVERY COMPETITOR gets a proper rating and constructive, honest criticism on his or her contest entry, and I'll take a little tour among other of his or her submissions.
THE WINNERS (probably 2-4 depending on their atmospheric flexibility) become featured artists credited live with honor and get the chance to collaborate on the melodic realm of Vengeance Void.
[ REBIRTH ] Old Game Remade
I have started re-developing my side-scrolling space-shooter project Vengeance Void. I already made the game with a school postfix as an exam project, but I have earned a lot of programming and design experience since then, so this one will be a major individual project from scratch, and will probably take a more than 3 months to release and an eternity to complete. The story and the universe will resemble the original, but the mood and design will be greatly different.
[ ATMOSPHERE ] Into the Unknown
I've already collected title tracks to use in this one including epic tracks such as Push by D-Dirge, A Monumental Deceipt by midimachine or Excape from Death by Jack Krauser (ShadowNazi169).
These songs describe just how divergent the game's atmosphere will be.
[ TEASER ] Chapter One: The Epic
Chapter One of the game (presented as a single player, story-driven prologue to what is yet to come) will introduce the voyage through space from dying Earth to a new solar system. The player will be able to venture forlorn interstellar battlefields among gargantuan shipwrecks or scorch the wonderful landscapes of alien planets. There will be chances to sightsee and get familiar with the universe when taking on the challenge of the numerous missions. There will be features that will make Vengeance Void Unique and might let it leave a mark in gaming history.
[ FUTURE PLANS ]
If Newgrounds lets me use some their server space, I'll make Chapter Two a pioneer of multiplayer flash games...
Aiming high? We'll see if it was worth it.
I guess that's all for now. I won't let side-projects distract me, so hopefully only my job will hold me back.
NOTE:Rest assured, everyone will be properly credited in the game. In case there would be income, agreements would be made in advance to distribute the proper amount of commission to every participant.
